Celebrating World Kindness Day

In times of challenge, kindness is more important than ever. With recent uncertainty affecting many Maine families and communities, World Kindness Day invites us to pause and remember that small acts of care can make a meaningful difference. Our strength as a community grows when we extend compassion, share what we can, and look out for one another.

Here in Bridgton and our surrounding communities, we are fortunate to have neighbors and organizations who work every day to support our community. If you’re looking for ways to get involved, please consider connecting with:

  • Bridgton Food Pantry — Donate shelf-stable groceries, offer a few hours of volunteer time, or help spread the word to those who might need support.

  • Bridgton Community Center — Participate in or assist with community programs, help at events, or simply check in with someone who could use company or encouragement.

  • Harrison Food Bank — Donate your time as a volunteer, or shop from their amazon wishlist to provide important key items they need for the upcoming holiday season.
  • Harvest Hills Animal Shelter — Kindness extends to all living beings, donate supplies, volunteer time, or even consider fostering. A little love goes a long way.

Every act of kindness—whether it’s volunteering, donating, or simply showing gentleness and patience with friends and neighbors—helps strengthen the roots of our community.

Doing Our Part: BPL’s Home Delivery Service

We know that transportation, mobility, and health concerns can make it difficult to visit the Library in person. Our Home Delivery Service is available to help bring library materials right to your door.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this service, sign-ups can be done at our circulation desk or found on our website at:

Sometimes, kindness is simply helping someone stay connected—to stories, to information, and to their community in some small way. Let’s bridge that gap together.

You Are Part of This Community

On this World Kindness Day, we invite you to reflect on the acts of generosity—large and small—that shape our shared home. Offer help where you can. Ask for help when you need it. And remember that kindness multiplies when we practice it together.

Thank you for being a community that cares.
