Step back in time and uncover the fascinating history of Bridgton through the lives of those who helped shape it at Bridgton Historical Society’s 3rd Annual Historic Cemetery Tour on October 31st, hosted by Mike Davis.

Join us on Friday, October 31 at 1:00 PM for a guided tour through one of Bridgton’s oldest and most storied burial grounds, the South Bridgton Cemetery (Adams Pond Yard). Together, we’ll uncover the fascinating lives and legacies of the people who helped shape South Bridgton’s early community.

Explore Local History Up Close

This year’s tour will once again be led by local historian Mike Davis, who has spent decades researching Bridgton’s past and sharing its stories. In partnership with the Bridgton Public Library, Mike will guide visitors through the headstones, telling the tales of early settlers, local veterans, and notable figures whose names still echo through town history.

The Adams Pond Yard (Est. 1811)—surrounded by forest and filled with centuries-old stones—offers a peaceful setting to reflect on the town’s enduring heritage. Each marker tells a story of the people who lived, worked, and built the foundations of this community more than two hundred years ago.

Get into the spirit of the season with our next craft at the Children’s Holiday Craft Table — Homemade Yarn Ghosts! This fun and festive activity will be available October 28 through November 1 in the Children’s Wing at the Bridgton Public Library.
 
This self-paced craft is designed for children of all ages and offers a wonderful opportunity for families to get creative together. Using simple materials, young crafters can design and create their very own yarn ghost — the perfect Halloween companion to bring a bit of spirited joy to your home.
 
Whether your child wants to make a friendly ghost or something a little more spooky, this activity is simple enough for all ages (littles may require some support) while leaving plenty of room for imagination and personal touches. All materials will be provided while supplies last.
 
No registration is required — just drop in during library hours and enjoy some hands-on holiday fun.
