Bookies Book Group – Join Us

Readers are invited to join the Bookies Book Group at the Bridgton Public Library for an afternoon of conversation and community Wednesday, March 25 from 3:00–4:00 PM.

This month we’ll be discussing Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, a powerful historical novel inspired by true events. The story follows a young Black nurse working in Alabama in the 1970s who uncovers a disturbing injustice involving two young girls and the public health system. Moving between past and present, the novel explores questions of ethics, responsibility, and the lasting impact of difficult choices.

The Bookies Book Group welcomes readers who enjoy thoughtful fiction and engaging discussion. Whether you’ve finished the book or are simply interested in hearing the conversation, all are welcome to attend.

Copies of the book may be available at the library—please ask at the circulation desk for more information.

We hope you’ll join us for a great book and a lively discussion.
