Find Your Voice

Find Your Voice

We have so many ways to help make things better. This October there are many opportunities, in our community and in our state, and we are making these available to you here at the library all month.

We will be hosting a Community Conversation: Jobseekers series this month. You can participate register  online or in-person or complete a survey. We want to hear about your jobseeking experiences, whether you are currently looking for work or are happily employed.

You also are invited to participate in the Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment. We don’t have a paper print out survey for this one, but you can click here to find out how to register.

The Greater Portland Council of Governments is hosting a Visioning Lab to share your ideas, solutions, and wishes about transportation in our area. We will have a paper version of the survey at the library as well.

And of course we have Elections on November 2, 2021. You can still regsiter to vote and request an absentee ballot. We encourage everyone to Get Out the Vote!

Celebrate Family History Month

Celebrate Family History Month

October is a great time to think about our families. Whether you are a dedicated geneaologist already or want to start learning more about your ancestors, we hope you enjoy some of what the library has to offer.

For kids we will have culture and craft bags with activities for celebrating ancestors and holidays (Dia de los Muertos and All Souls Day), book lists, displays, and coloring pages.

For adults we will have a craft bag for making your own family photo ornament to decorate your Christmas tree or to display all year in your home. And of course we offer access to Ancestry.com through our memberhsip with the Maine InfoNet, where you can access more detailed information. Need some help? Racheal is available to sit with you on Fridays, 2-4.
