Events and Programs for November

Events and Programs for November

Please come join the Friends of Bridgton Library at the Book Shed on Saturday, November 6th from 9:00 am-noon for some great books at even better prices. All funds raised go to help the Library pay for programs and services for library users of all ages. With the proceeds of the summer book sale the Library was able to purchase 72 new nonfiction titles for youth services, including health, finance, vehicles, history, and countries around the world. Thank you, Friends, for your hard work and thank you to all those who support our book sales!

Our November reading challenge is Read Grateful. Sign up online or in-person. Earn raffle tickets for reading and for trying out some mindful activities as we move into winter. We will also be holding our annual Thankful Raffle. Earn a raffle ticket for each item you return through the month of November (remember, we never charge overdue fines, this is your chance to get a little extra reward for finding those lost items). There will be 20 winners of all ages, drawing on December 1st.

Just a reminder, we offer a member’s discount for any Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance Workshop in special partnership with MWPA, please contact the library to get started! We also offer to pay the registration fee for any online UMaine Cooperative Extension Online workshop you attend, please let us know and we’ll take care of that for you!

Celebrate Family History Month

Celebrate Family History Month

October is a great time to think about our families. Whether you are a dedicated geneaologist already or want to start learning more about your ancestors, we hope you enjoy some of what the library has to offer.

For kids we will have culture and craft bags with activities for celebrating ancestors and holidays (Dia de los Muertos and All Souls Day), book lists, displays, and coloring pages.

For adults we will have a craft bag for making your own family photo ornament to decorate your Christmas tree or to display all year in your home. And of course we offer access to Ancestry.com through our memberhsip with the Maine InfoNet, where you can access more detailed information. Need some help? Racheal is available to sit with you on Fridays, 2-4.
