Getting ready for the Iditarod in YS

Getting ready for the Iditarod in YS

We’ve been busy in youth services getting ready for March! It can be a very long month, so we’ve been planning some fun around the Iditarod. Our Culture To-Go bags will be all about the Iditarod, with some interesting fun facts, history and cultural information, and craft ideas. We will have Aurora Borealis art kits all ready for you to pick up (this one’s a little messy but very beautiful). These will be available on March 1st while supplies last.

We’ll also have an Iditarod Leader Board in Youth Services for our young readers. Sign up on Bridgton Library Beanstack or pick up paper reading and activity logs. Want to make it simple? Sign up for Simple Registration and we’ll keep track of the number of books your child checks out and move them along the trail through the month. We know that different kids read at different levels at different times, so we’ll have more stops for those reading picture books. For Simple Registration just call (207-647-2472), email (bplreference@bridgton.lib.me.us) or ask at the desk and we’ll set you up.

And soon enough, it will be Spring 🙂

Creative Valentines To-Go in Youth Services

Creative Valentines To-Go in Youth Services

Thank you to the Rufus Porter Museum, our wonderful neighbors here on our cultural corner. They have put together some Creative Valentine To-Go bags, available in Youth Services while supplies last. Learn more about the history of the holiday and create your own special gift for a special someone.

Rufus Porter was an artist, musician, teacher, inventor, and founder of Scientific American magazine. He lived his life as a lifelong learner, something we really love here at the Library! So grab a To-Go bag, and maybe a book from our reading lists or non-fiction how-to collections.
