Happy May!

For all of you who have started your spring cleaning, the Friends are accepting book donations at the Book Shed. Have some documents you need to securely get rid of? We have a Shredathon Fundraiser on Saturday  5/7 at the First Congregational Church (33 High Street, Bridgton) 8 am- noon.

Please join us on Fridays for storytime here at the Library from 10-11 am. We will have a story, a craft, and a snack to share. We will also be hosting a Kid’s Writer’s Cafe and Build-It Lab projects for older siblings! Racheal, Alana, and Alicia will all be there to help caregivers and kids with their activities.

Interested in writing? We have several options available. Every 2nd and 4th Friday there is a writer’s group that is just starting up. We also have an open Writer’s Cafe on Saturday afternoons in the Main Reading Room 1:30-2:30 pm for aspiring writers and novelists of all ages. We have writing prompts and supportive feedback for all ages.

The Library is a place to learn, think, and speak; and we offer so many ways to participate in building a better community. Please join us for a conversation about the kind of community we would like to have and the role education can play. Sign up for one of our three sessions, one in person and two by zoom, and be part of the Local Voices Network discussion for Maine Education 2050. You can help shape education policy and resources for the future of our community.

As we build Bendable Maine into a life-long learning portal for all Maine residents to explore their interests, share their passions, and learn new skills we are also thinking about ways to share our creative talents as a community. Please contact us if you are an artist interested in displaying your creations. Our walls and shelves are a reflection of our community, and everyone is invited!

We have plenty of recommended reading lists, and our staff is always available and happy to talk about their favorites! Try a new type of book, or learn about a new topic, listen to an audio book, or download an ebook. Racheal is available Friday afternoons 2-4 each week for one-on-one technology assistance. Happy Reading!

Sincerely,

Amy Stone, Librray Director
