April Happenings at BPL

National Library Week takes place 4/7-4/13, so come celebrate with us by participating in the Spring Reading Challenge! The more books you read, the more tickets you earn to join our raffle for some wonderful children’s and adult’s prizes. We will draw the winners on Wednesday, May 1, and the winners will receive a call from us. So, come pick up a reading log and an armful of books and get reading!

Learn how to use your personal technology and how to protect yourself online: The Bridgton Public Library will be hosting two free NDEC technology classes in April, Chromebook Basics (Tuesday, 4/16) and Internet Safety (Wednesday, 4/17). For more information or to enroll, visit digitalequitycenter.org/classes or visit our website (bridgtonlibrary.org/calendar).

Additionally, one-on-one Technology Help is available every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday in our Resource Room from 2-4 pm. Please call or stop by to make an appointment.

Early childhood literacy is one of our top priorities. Stop by our youth circulation desk to learn more about the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program and update us with your child’s progress. To support your child’s literary endeavors, thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Bridgton Library, we have a limited number of free kits available containing a set of books, information about the program, and a reading log to keep track of your child’s progress.

As always, we would love for you to join us for storytime every Friday at 10 am in the Youth Room. We will have a story, a craft, and a snack for little ones to enjoy.

Looking for ways to explore and learn? Swing by and pick up one of our museum, event, or park passes! We have free passes to the Portland Museum of Art, the Children’s Museum, the Southworth Planetarium, and the Maine Wildlife Park available. For more information, visit the main circulation desk.

As the weather warms, new growth begins appearing on the trees, and the season of snow is (hopefully) behind us, we cannot help but feel a sense of new beginnings and rejuvenation this April. What better way is there to enjoy this period of renewal than by trying out a new type of book, a new author, and exploring everything else the Bridgton Public Library has to offer. Happy Spring, and happy reading!

Sincerely,

Bridgton Public Library Staff
