Library Services January 2021

Library Services January 2021

We are planning to continue our walk-in hours in January  T: 10-4, W: 10-4, F: 10-4, Sat: 10-2, with no-contact pickup available at the end of each day for those who choose. We do encourage people to use our online catalog to place holds for quick pick up or give us a call and we can help you by pre-picking some books we think you’d like.

We will post it on our website, Facebook, Instagram if we have either a health or weather closing (though with the weather, we may not have Internet, but we’ll try). Please call if you have any questions (207-647-2472).

We will be offering Activities To-Go and book discussion groups by Zoom. While we cannot offer in-person workshops here, we have gathered together some online resources for you to help you get inspired, get involved, learn something new, and part of a different kind of community.

The UMaine Cooperative Extension has an awesome lineup of online workshops, with a suggested donation of $5 per session. Can’t make a donation? That’s okay, we’ll make one on your behalf. We will make a donation for any patron who brings in or emails a copy of your program registration.

We have an innovative new membership here at the Library! We have partnered with the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance to offer online workshops for up to 5 library patrons at member prices. If the member prices are a little more than you can afford, please get in touch with the Library for our scholarship program.

Stay safe and well. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Getting Ready for the Holidays

Getting Ready for the Holidays

Just a reminder we will be closed on Friday, November 27th to celebrate Thanksgiving. We will be open T, W: 10-4 and Sat: 10-2, as well as offering curbside pickup on those days.

Our Thankful Raffle continues through the end of November. The winners will be drawn Tuesday, December 1st. We will call the winners, so please make sure you give us a phone number where we can leave a message. We are happy to support our local businesses and happy to celebrate our patrons!

For December we will have Kitchen To-Go and Craft To-Go bags for adults, as well as our Culture, STEAM, and Storytime To-Go for kids. We want everyone to have some interesting and fun things to do as winter arrives. Looking ahead, we are planning a community winter read for January. “Books Like Us” is a nation-wide theme that we will, or course, be making our own here at the Library. We are putting together some reading lists and thinking up more raffle prizes for our community of readers of all ages.
