Two Special Meetings

Two Special Meetings

We have two special meetings coming up this week. The Friends of the Library will be meeting Saturday, September 14th, 9:30-11:00 am in the Meeting Room. Please join us if you are interested in finding out more about the great things the Friends do and find out how you can help. We are always happy to have New Friends.

The Annual Meeting of the Corporation for the Library is Tuesday, September 17th, starting at 7:00. The regular Trustees meeting starts at 6:30. During this meeting they will move into the Annual Meeting of the Corporation, which has been posted in the Bridgton News and here at the Library. Recommended changes to the By-Laws have also been posted at the Library by the Main Circulation Desk for anyone who would like to review these before the meeting. The Annual Meeting will adjourn, and the regular meeting will continue after. Please call 647-2472 if you have any questions or require more information on either meeting.

We have some really wonderful programs coming up in our Main Reading Room on Saturdays at 1:00 through the end of September. Join us Saturday the 14th for Paul St. Cyr, local author who has written two historical novels based on the journey of a Confederate soldier. Alex Myers will be here on the 21st to discuss stories of transgender identity and contribution to American history, from the Revolutionary War to today. Finally, Stan Cohen will be here on the 28th presenting Women in the American Civil War, having been inspired by the contributions of women as he did extensive research into American Civil War history.

Each of these presentations is an opportunity to explore issues of gender, choice, loyalty, and courage that are as relevant today as they have ever been. Pre-registration is requested, light refreshments will be served at each event.
