We Love July!

We Love July!

We know that summer is the time to relax and catch up with family and friends. We hope you stop by the Library and check out some of these great activities when you are in the neighborhood! We have seeds to start, cooking tools to create wonderful meals, activity kits for kids and families to explore new ideas, museum passes for checkout, and of course some great books to challenge and entertain.

Our Summer Reading program is Read for the Stars, and Miss Samantha has been hard at work planning some amazing, out-of-this-world activities for tots through teens. Join us for 6 weeks of reading, story trail walks, crafts, raffles, and parties. Brochures are available at the circulation desks and on our website, www.bridgtonlibrary.org/youth-services.

The Friends of the Bridgton Library Annual Book Sale is in the courtyard on Saturday July 6th from 9:00am-1:00pm. There is a rain date of Saturday July 20th. And if you are interested in joining the Friends of the Bridgton Library, brochures are available at the Main Circulation Desk and online, just click on Friends of the Library on our website.

We are excited to announce that the Bridgton Community Band will be performing in our courtyard on Wednesday, July 17th and 24th, 7:00-8:30. Please join us for two evenings of uplifting music in a beautiful setting.

Explore SoulCollageĀ®, Art Journaling, Mail Art, and Guerrilla Art by taking one of our new To-Go kits home and giving it a try. Instructions and materials are included. And if you want to connect with the artists who created these inspiring projects, sign up for their workshops, happening here through August.

We also are pleased to announce author and poet Richard Blanco will be here Saturday, August 17th. Pre-registration will be available in July. Our full summer calendar of events is available on our website, www.bridgtonlibrary.org/calendar, and we make sure to include them in our monthly newsletters, too!

Author Visit: Richard Blanco

Author Visit: Richard Blanco

–Only a few weeks old, Richard Blanco already belonged to three countries, a foreshadowing of the negotiations of cultural identity, community, and belonging that would shape his life and continue to inform his work. Selected by President Obama as the fifth inaugural poet in U. S. history, Richard Blanco is the youngest and the first Latino, immigrant, and gay person to serve in such a role. Author of The Prince of Los Cocuyos, his latest book of poems, How to Love a Country, both interrogates the American narrative, past and present, and celebrates the still un-kept promise of its ideals.–

Please join us for a truly special event here at the Bridgton Public Library on Saturday, August 17th 1:00-2:30. Please pre-register for your free ticket, available for pick up at the Main Circulation Desk. Seating is limited and will start at 12:30. You may pre-register online below, or call us 207-647-2472 and leave a message.

This is made possible with funding from the Friends of the Bridgton Library.
