Celebrate May: May Baskets and May Day

As the month of April comes to close, and spring really arrives with the 1st of May, celebrate with a new take on a traditional May basket. We supply the flowers and supplies, and you learn how to put it all together as a beautiful little celebration you can deliver to someone’s door. Please join us Saturday, April 27th 1:00-2:00 pm for this hands-on creative workshop. Funding provided by the Friends of the Bridgton Library. For more information contact the BPL at 207-647-2472.

On May Day, in Youth Services from 2:00-4:00, decorate Spring Cookies and sip on punch while making a paper May Day Basket! Also, help us decorate the library poles May Day style! Upstairs we will have a small table of treats by the Circulation Desk and plenty of seeds for checking out.

You know that summer is on its way in Maine when the rhubarb stalks are large enough to gather. This tart stalk, colored deep red and topped with broad, bright-green leaves, grows in backyards and around farm buildings without much attention. For a spring time treat, learn how to make some healthy tasty recipes with this sure sign of spring. Please join Katy McCarty from UMaine Cooperative Extension on Saturday April 27, 10-11:30 for some tips and tasty samples to bring home. Funding provided by the Friends of the Bridgton Library.
