2020 Census Update

2020 Census Update

There’s a lot happening in our country right now, but there are some things we can do, even from home, that will make a difference for the future. One of those things is to complete the 2020 Census.

As of March 28th Cumberland County has had a 29.2% completion rate, with 28.5% online. Bridgton has a 14.4% completion rate, with 14.2% online. Please contact us at Bridgton Public Library if you need help completing your online survey using your own device using our free wi-fi, or give us a call if you’re at home with Internet access and we can walk you through the steps. Do you have a paper form that was mailed to you and not quite sure how to fill it out? Please give us a call, and we will print a guide for you to take home. Do you know someone who needs help? Get in touch with us and we’ll do what we can.

Filing dates have been extended during this Pandemic, So we have some time as a community to get as many responses as possible submitted.

Help your community receive the federal funding it needs for the next 10 years by taking 10 minutes to complete your 2020 Census. Hospitals, schools, roads, transportation and more all receive the federal funding based on Census data. Complete your 2020 Census. Everyone Counts. Everyone matters.

Study-From-Car Hotspots

Study-From-Car Hotspots

This information is provided by the NetworkMaine website:

With the closure of public schools and the subsequent transition to remote learning, many schools have identified a lack of adequate Internet access in the homes of some of their students, limiting the ability of those students to participate in online learning opportunities.

Networkmaine has offered assistance to the roughly 140 local schools that have their WiFi networks provided through the Maine Learning Technology Initiative in creating an additional “guest” WiFi network.  This additional WiFi network will be completely segregated from any existing network(s) at the school.

We have dubbed this effort Study-From-Car as a play on the phrase work-from-home that has become so prevalent in the media.

We encourage participating schools to use the hashtag #studyfromcar if they make any announcements on social media.

If your school is doing something similar and would like to have it added to this map please drop an email to us at: NOC@maine.edu or fill out the form below.

In response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received, we are now including any member that has a guest WiFi service and wants to be included on our Study-From-Car map.

Bridgton Public Library has registered as a Study-From-Car hotspot, please use our parking lot to help your kids complete their online school work, and please let anyone who may not have home Internet know about this service we can provide.

Stay safe and well.
