Books and Technology

Books and Technology

With winter weather here, it is nice to have a variety of resources available for your education, information, and recreation. Whether you choose to read a great book that you pick up from our shelves, or download a title to your device, or learn something new online, the Bridgton Public Library is here for you.

If you like using your phone, tablet, or laptop for your reading, cloudLibrary is a service provided free of charge to our patrons, with thousands of titles available in ebook and audiobook format. We offer assistance on setting up your device with your account during our Technology Help every Tuesday 10:30-noon.

If you like a good old-fashioned read we have a selection of Bestsellers and Award-winning books in Youth Services and in our Main Collection to suit your tastes.  And if you love to talk about the books you read, we have many book clubs including Teen Fantasy Book Club,  Nonfiction Book Club, Literary Club, Book Bags, and Bookies  that read a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction. Please check our online calendar:

for upcoming titles and book club meeting times.

If you feel like learning something new, we offer access to DigitalMaine online databases:

https://library.digitalmaine.org/

This includes language learning tools, car repair tutorials, and genealogy resources amongst hundreds of topics and resources available. This replaces MARVEL! And has been substantially redesigned for easier use. Please check it out.

We have set up Purchase Suggestions through our online catalog, so if you have a book you would like to recommend please do. If you would rather call or stop by and talk with someone, we will put in the request for you. If you put in a suggestion, we put a Hold on it and give you a call when we receive it.

We can put in an Interlibrary Loan request at no charge to you. We request the book from another library, and give you a call when it’s ready for pickup.

Stay warm and safe, and enjoy all we have to offer.

Sincerely,

Amy Stone

Library Director

cloudLibrary issues

cloudLibrary issues

We have heard from several patrons over the past few days that there are some issues with the cloudLibrary titles, particularly the ebooks. We are working with the company providing the service and will post any technical help as we receive the information.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Technology is wonderful when it works correctly and frustrating when it does not. We understand, and will do our best to help.

Please report any issues by sending an email to:

bpldirector@bridgton.lib.me.us

and let me know the title, the type of device and operating system you are using, and the date you downloaded the title.
